I gotta get off my ass.

I got the zero motivation right now and that is not good. Since the Iceman Cometh is like a month away. I had a ham sandwich for breakfast and a Wal Mart family sized sub sandwich for lunch today. And I topped it off with two corndogs, some Doritos and a 24oz. Steel Reserve 8.1% alc/vol lager for dinner. Plus a cupcake for dessert.

FAST IS FAST AND SLOW IS SLOW

I am done with 100 mile events i gave it a try and its just to long for me. I have around 75 miles in me on the mtb and that is it, the last 25 miles are just awful. I am also drinking the single speed koolaid it doesn't really matter how many gears you have your either fast or your slow. The shenandoah 100 was a very humbling experience anyone who thinks anything here in ohio is to technical had better never go east those trails scared me to death. Nothing like wanting to stop when your going down hill but cant because you cant brake well enough, your hands are numb and your forearms are so pumped you have no strength to squeeze the brakes. So i have converted my paragon into a single speed and so far so good raced manatoch did ok could have used a little more gear but its a learning experience. Rode mohican fastest lap ever by myself( i have gone faster but that was with lorson beating me up and pushing me the whole time). Sunday is the knob i think it will be rough on me just because of the short steep climbs but we will see i just need to learn to get off and run when i screw up a climb.

11 hours 55 mins of mangina screams

this is the aftermath if something could go wrong it did. broke bike ran out of water for 15 miles(later found out me and drunk tried to make the same pump work without success) totally sucked on the bike. i dont know if some how we disturbed some sacred burial ground or what. it was absolutely the most suffering i have ever done on a bike and the slowest i have gone in one of these races(as you can tell my mangina is still screaming). the only thing that went my way is the fact i met the time cuts. that alone says how bad it was i was actually concerned a couple of times i might not make it. i still dont know where it all went wrong i just hope it never happens like that again and along the way i think i also cursed floyd L. saying how i respected the fact he would race to the finish even on a bad day and he ended up dnf'ing because of a crash. so i some how need to pull my head out of my ass and make something out of the lumberjack we will see. all i can say is lorson killed it(1st single speed 100k) he even overcame the tad curse and drunk pushed to the end he just ran out of time or he would have crossed the line.

No-hican

My futile attempt at the Mohican 100 has come and gone. I did Cohutta and my biggest mistake was thinking that they would get easier or more bearable. But after 10 hours and 70 miles into the race I got yanked at aid station 4 due to the time cut off. I'm actually glad the dude yanked me cause I couldn't turn pedals anymore. I ran out of fluids before I hit the rail trail and all I drank was Perpetum without water. So I was a dry as a bone. I posted my number plate upsidedown On the Drunk Wall of Fame/Shame.

Wang, where were you!

I finished the club ride up Wed 5/14/08. And on the corner church of Chippewa and Fox Lake a drunk driver pulls out in front of me. And by drunk I mean smashed. I slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him and he/she is goin towards Fulton in the wrong lane and with one big over correction in steering drives in the ditch on the right side of the road. After about a quarter mile of driveway hopping we come to the intersection of Chippewa and Fulton. Driver tries to make a left to 585 but turns 50 feet too soon and drives into the yard of the house on the corner into the ditch on Fulton. I get out of my car to try to stop the dude/chick. The driver some how manages to get out of the yard, by this time I have dialed 1-800-GRAB-DUI and am talking to the patrolman, and get to 585 and proceeds to drive into to oncoming traffic. The dispatcher tells me not to chase but by that time the dipshit is near his house but misses the driveway and drives into his neighbors yard, turns around and drives into his garage and closes the door.

monster climbs and really fast people

well the 100 miles of grinding is over. im not sure how i feel about the race i went as hard as i could ended up 45th out of 20o which im happy with. i could have done better but could have done worse. the freaking forest road climbs were sick. the longest was no joke 10 miles long at like 10-14% covered something like 3000 feet and a whole bunch of 2-3 mile climbs that were leg breakers. the little bit of single track was great (30 miles) it just happened to be covered in mud at the start and i was to blown at the end to enjoy it. the area is amazing big pines and red clay with vert. walls up and down the valley for miles.

the actual race was ok me and magnus got really good starts i was top 15 for about 2 mins then told myself if i didnt slow down i was going to die. it was pretty cool to be right there with floyd, chris e, harlan, and the other really fast guys. the first 3 miles were on a 3 mile paved climb i think i could have made it over with them but that might have been the end of the race for me so i dropped some gears and found the next group which included magnus. thats pretty much how we enterd the single track. then it was catch some people get passed by some people for the next 85 miles. i need to figure out how to finish stronger the last 15 miles i was in full mangina scream and it cost me one of my goals .

Angry & Drunk's Most Excellent Adventures

Did the Cohutta100 this weekend. The hardest damn thing that I ever did on a bike. I climbed till my eyes blead then I climbed some more. Beautiful course. But if you are looking for training grounds with 10 mile+ climbs. We found a bunch this weekend. We had a chance to ride the trails before it rained Saturday night and Tennessee/Georgis MTB is pristine. I told Angry I was gonna post stats from my Garmin. So without further adue.

Pouring a Black and Tan

Sarah Ulmer

New Zealander rider Sarah Ulmer will bypass the Road Cycling World Championships in Madrid, Spain next week due to a stomach virus that has compromised the last stages of her build up. Ulmer didn't want to attend the biggest event of the year unless she was able to compete on a level playing field, and it has now become evident this won't be possible. "I have unfortunately suffered from a stomach virus for the past 3 weeks which has hampered my final preparation to the extent I don't believe I would be able to compete much above 60 percent of my ability in Madrid," she said.

Alejandro Valverde

Valverde and teammate Francisco Perez pulled out at the 40-kilometer mark, complaining of a stomach virus. As for Thursday's result:

“It was the hardest stage of my life,” Valverde told journalists on Thursday. “I finished out of pure stubbornness

Jan Ullrich

Last year, after Pevenage kept a closer eye on his star's off-season eating habits, the problem was injury and illness. His spring was marked by a stomach virus, the flu and problems with a wisdom tooth, all of which caused him to skip many of the races he needs to reach top condition for the Tour.

George Hincapie

Last week, however, Hincapie was sidelined by a stomach virus that struck March 12 and kept him in bed for two days and out of the Tirreno-Adriatico stage-race, a key warm-up for Milan-San Remo. Hincapie hasn't raced since he finished second to Jaan Kirsipuu at Haribo Classic in late February.

Tom Danielson

VN.com: You made it through a few hard days, you must take something positive out of that?TD: Everyone has a bad day in a three week race, a few ups and downs. I had a stomach virus. My immune system was run down because I was fighting for position. That was big for me to get through those stages.

Gunn Rita

SET-BACK DUE TO VIRUS

Apparently it’s a stomach virus that’s been ravaging my system for the past week and gradually tapping me of my strength and energy. Two weeks with very little exercise here at home in Norway has been good for my body, and the most recent tests show that the virus is on its way out of my system. The prescription for the next weeks is to “hurry slowly”.

Stomach Virus

Heres a list of cyclists and stomach virus. What is your take on it? Heres a quote from Cape Epic, "The Bulls came into the day a full 18 minutes down on Cannondale-Vredestein, the team they barely beat to take the overall in 2007. Sahm had suffered a stomach virus through the first four stages of the 2008 race, pushing the German squad squarely into second place." Beware of the stomach virus!!
